About
“To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else…”
-Emily Dickinson
At my writing studio on an island in British Columbia, I’m a long way from where Emily Dickinson wrote that sentence. In my spirit, I’m closer.
I am an experienced editor and take on editing work as I have time. In my previous job as publications manager at a multicultural media agency, together with the graphic designer I produced hundreds of published pieces: booklets, posters in 3 languages, a cookbook, brochures, website content and a magazine style newsletter mailed regularly to 17,000 homes.
To ask about editing, write me at dorsie@shaw.ca and put ‘editing’ in the subject line. Besides copy editing (spelling and grammar) I have also done substantive book editing, rearranging the contents of books to make them more attractive and reader friendly.
Though there are more words in our world today than ever before, gathered up by the arms of space and flung around our earth, I still love best those black marks on pages of paper. They speak most deeply to me. My fingers touch the past.
My dream is to write something worth keeping for generations to come and in the meanwhile to read about how others have lived. What wisdom have they learned through living on this earth?
I usually write in English but also write basic Spanish and have had a book translated into Spanish. If interested, you can see some of my earlier writings at my old (non-interactive) website doortogoodwriting.com
